Dixie Classic Fair 2006

Being October, thoughts turn to things like Baseball playoffs, and going to the county fair.  Since we can't score a major league baseball team in NC, the fair is OUR October fun event!

Most of you have seen the pictures from last year with Trey at the fair.  It was fun, but he really was too young to ride the rides or participate much.  This year was very different!

We started out with the Merry Go Round (Click on each picture for a larger image)

Trey loves riding the merry go round.  After that we tried something a little more adventurous.

The fire truck ride!  We weren't too sure about how he'd react to it.

Nice and easy

Next was the "Rio Grand train" ride.  Since he loves trains, we figured it would be fun for him.  He seemed to enjoy it, but wasn't really thrilled with it.  Somebody likes thrills...

Next up, the RED BARON!!!  Yes, a "flying" ride.  He pointed and said "ride the airplanes"  So we had to let him ride!

He really enjoyed the planes.  We put his hat on him because the sun was shining quite bright that day.

Next up was the petting zoo. Trey loved the petting zoo.  He had a great time feeding the goats, lamas and even a couple of CAMELS!!!

After washing our hands, we went and got Trey an armband so he could ride unlimited rides for the rest of the evening.  (a VERY wise choice we found out).

First was him riding a circus train.

Next was the "bug ride".  Mommy got him all secure and strapped in.

There was another merry go round in this section of the fair, so he had to ride it as well.

Next was a "monster truck" ride.  It was kind of bumpy and jerky, and we thought he might not like it, but we were wrong.  He LOVED it!  He rode it about 6 times, each time it ended, he got off and said "ride it again?"

Next up, Trey's first ROLLER COASTER!!!!

He asked to ride it and we were nervous, but there were younger children riding it and having fun so why not?

Look closely, you can see him in the second picture with a smile on his face.  The roller coaster was a hit!  He rode it probably 4 or 5 times and looked over at the swings that were next to the roller coaster...  "Ride the swings?"  We were very nervous putting him on there.  How was he going to react?  would he start screaming?  He was FEARLESS!  It was hard to get him "in action" as it were, but here are some of the shots of him on the swings.  He rode about 6 or 7 times in a row!

in that last picture, Trey is up in the left hand corner

Trey rode a ride called the Kangaroo.  It was like a mini Drop Zone from Carowinds.  But for kids, of course.

Where the other children were squealing in terror, he was cackling in delight!

Finally, after a few more rides on the swings and roller coaster it was time to go home.  But, no trip to the Dixie Classic Fair is complete without watching the pig races!!!!

Time to go home

We may have to bring Trey back to the fair again this week!  He has such a wonderful time there, and WE had a great time watching him!
